I have been a busy crafting bee this weekend! Yesterday my husband and I spent the afternoon together. We went out to lunch and then went shopping, which is my favorite thing to do :)
Hobby Lobby has their Christmas decor and supplies at 40% off, so I wanted to check out what is available.
My Christmas decor theme this year is Feliz Navidad. My Christmas tree colors are going to be fuschia, orange, turquoise, and light shade of green.
I really did not find that much in those colors and too many decor items with glitter! Don't get me wrong, as a crafter I can appreciate glitter but I hate to decorate with glitter due to the clean up afterwards.
Anyway, after our shopping trip to Hobby Lobby, we went around downtown Main street in Tomball (little town we live near by) antique shopping. My husband is wanting to find an old record player as now wanting to collect old records. No luck though, poor guy!
So after our shopping trip, I went straight to work on Birthday cards for 2 friends. I was excited to use some paper collections that I have bought but have not used yet :) I just buy too much!
It was also World Card Making Day yesterday! Most online scrapbooking supply stores and blogs had special events and contests going on but I did not participate.
I did though find out that I was picked as the winner of the Scraplift challenge at Two Peas in a Bucket for my layout! My layout was called "5 things we love about you" which was a page dedicated to my pitbull mix Peaches.
I won $5 gift certificate at Two Peas which is always GREAT!
Anyway the first card is for my Brooks who I have known now for 8 years. We met in residency while at UTMB in Galveston and have been good friends since.
Here is the card I made for her:
I used the Jillibean soup Grandma's Lima Bean soup 6 x 6 paper pad. Brooks loves antiques so I knew the doily themed papers would work well.
I die cut the doilies using Papertrey Ink doily dies on my Sizzix.
The next card I made is for my friend Amie. I met Amie almost 3 years ago when I started working at Cypress Physicians and became friends right away. She loves cats so I wanted to make a card using my Cricut lite cartridge Meow. I actually decided not to use my Cricut as still have an ongoing project and did not want to have to change my settings :)
Here is the card I made for Amie:
I used October Afternoon's Cakewalk paper collection. I bought this collection a few months ago and had not had the chance to use it yet until now!
Instead of die cutting a cat, I used a die cut from the miscellany pack from October Afternoon's Witch Hazel collection. Thus the black cat on the card :)
Now for my last card of the week. I made a fall themed card last week using Kimber McCray's sketch challenge and my goal this week was to make a Halloween themed card.
I found an old Cosmo Cricket 6 x 6 paper pad that I bought on clearance last fall called Matilda. I loved the Halloween themed papers and knew that I would use it this year.
Here is my Halloween card:
I also used Lawn Fawn's Happy Halloween clear stamp set from last year. I also bought this last year with the idea that I was going to use it in 2012 :)
I don't know who I am going to send this card to though. I might send it to my mom who is my biggest fan and has actually bought an album to display my cards.
If anyone wants this card let me know and shoot me an email. I can either give it to you in person if you are a friend or family member or I can ship it to you.
Thank you for stopping by and checking out my projects! I finally picked up my pictures from my recent cruise last month so will be working on some layouts and Project Life as well.
Stop by next week to check those out.
I hope you all have a great week!
Ana
