Post-Christmas Card - Lawn Fawn Winter Owl

Hi Everyone! Hope you all enjoyed my video yesterday. I don't plan on making too many videos but I think it will be fun especially for haul videos. I just made another Two Peas purchase before Christmas which should get here next week. Planning on making a video to show my goodies :)

As you saw in my video, I have LOTS of stuff and I keep buying. I do plan on buying a few more things and then stopping after the New Year. I made a pact with my husband to stop buying after October 1st? I don't remember the exact month :)
As you can see that has not been working out.
I really want to focus on my house in 2013 and finish off some of the rooms we have not finished remodeling such as my husband's office and the part of the upstairs.
I feel bad sometimes since I have my woman cave but my poor hubby's office is still our junk room :)

Well onto this weeks project. As I showed in my video, there was a Lawn Fawn stamp set called Winter Owl that I bought since it was so cute but did not use. I actually wanted to make a Christmas card for my niece who attends Rice University (The owl is their mascot) but I never got around to making one - sorry Carolina :(

Anyway, the owl is really cute and I mentioned in my video that I would probably use it to make a card.

Yesterday, the Two Peas Blog had their last card challenge for 2012 by Kimber McGray. The sketch she came up with looked easy. It also had more of a patchwork look, so I wanted to participate so that I could also use my sewing machine. I thought that I could sew around all the edges to make it look more like a quilt.

Here is look at her card sketch challenge:

I wanted to use some of the scraps of paper I had left from my Christmas card making. So only used the left over papers from Echo Park's Holly Jolly collection. It has the traditional red and green but also has some chocolate brown and fuchsia in the mix.

Here is the picture of my card creation:

I think it came out so cute! I had to use markers to color in the owl. I don't have nice markers like Copics but have a basic Martha Stewart marker set which works just fine. I really don't want to get into coloring stamps as that is a whole other monster. Money monster that is :)

The card is a standard A2 size (4.25 x 5.5) and this time I used my woodgrain embossed cardstock I purchased from Studio Calico in white. I also used a piece of scrap cardstock to stamp my sentiment and stick my owl. The scarf was paper pieced meaning I stamped the owl onto patterned card stock and then cut out the scarf to be glued onto the actual image.

I took this picture so that you can see the actual stitching up close. This was my actual 2nd try :) The first card was a big mess and had to practice on getting it straight. Love how it came out though.

My card does not have as much embellishments like Kimber's but I wanted to keep it simple.

I hope you enjoyed this week's project. Thanks for stopping by and hope you all have a great week!!

I started P&P Creations blog in May 2012 and very excited for more crafting in 2013! I will continue to make my weekly projects for P&P Creations. I do have a busy year coming up so as much as I would like to increase my blog posts, I don't think that is going to be a possibility. Of course once in a while I probably will have more than 1 post a week.

Thank you to all my viewers/subscribers for their support and wonderful comments every week!

Wishing you all a wonderful and prosperous NEW YEAR!!!

XOXO

Craftroom tour - my first video

Hi Everyone! Hope you are all having a great weekend so far. Christmas came and went :(   It was back to work for me on the 26th and work has been BUSY!

I have spent the morning playing with my Canon DSLR camera. As you may all know, I love watching papercrafting videos on You Tube especially the haul videos!
I knew at one point that I would start doing videos, so decided that no better time to start then now. So I spent most of the morning figuring out how to make a movie video on my Canon. It was actually pretty easy. The hardest part has been editing :) I have a MacBook Pro which comes with iMovie 11 installed. I had to keep looking at tutorials online figuring out how to edit my video.
Fast forward 5 hours and my first video is ready to go. I tried to cut out as much as I can but still kind of a long video at 13:45 minutes!

I decided to do a craftroom tour for now. I cleaned up my desks this morning and put up all my Christmas paper and embellishments for now. I still need to finish my December daily and do 12 x 12 layout for Christmas day but I am waiting on some recent pics I ordered on Shutterfly.

Anyway, I plan to do more videos now that I feel more comfortable with my editing software. I really only want to keep it filming haul videos and maybe special occasions. Will see....I am really wanting to keep blogging in a traditional format.

So here is my first video for P&P Creations:

Hope you enjoyed it!

Will be back tomorrow for my weekly project post. See you then!

Christmas Cards 2012

Hi Everyone! Wow can you believe that Christmas is almost here already! Time goes by so fast.
Today we went to my father in law's house for early Christmas with the Anstee family. Had a day full of family, good food and treats.
It was great seeing all the nieces and nephews open up their presents.

I am actually behind on my December Daily - of course! :) So today I am showing pictures of some of the Christmas cards that I made for this year.
I actually did not make enough cards this year so was only able to send out to our family and close friends.

I had several Holiday 6x6 paper pads that I wanted to use. It felt great to use up every piece of paper and throw away the covers :)

The first collection that I used is Echo Park's Holly Jolly - I LOVE these colors including the fuchsia. This is a holiday collection from 2011 and found it at Simon Says Stamp online.

I really wanted to add more stamping to my holiday cards this year so also bought several stamp sets for this occasion.
For this set of cards, I used Lawn Fawn's Let It Snow stamp set.

Here is a picture of one of the cards from this set:

The next set of cards were done using another Echo Park collection called Winter Park. This is also a holiday collection from 2011. I picked this due to the different colors of blues and some maroon which is a change from the traditional.

I used 2 different stamp sets for these cards.

First one was Studio Calico's Spread Joy set which was meant to go with their new Wonderland paper collection. I used the snowflake stamps to make embellishments for the cards.

The second stamp set used was for the sentiment on the card and it is an Ali Edwards (Technique Tuesday) Good Cheer stamp set.

Here is one of the cards I made from this set:

I used some "bling" on the snowflakes to add more sparkle. What's Christmas without sparkle? :)

The last set of Christmas cards that I made was another Echo Park collection called This and That Christmas.
I really loved the traditional shades of green and red in this collection.

For this set of cards not only did I use some stamping but also used some dies. I recently purchased a few stamp sets from Papertrey Ink including the Holiday Button Bits collection.

I really enjoyed using the Everday Button Bits and thought that these images were so cute for Christmas cards this year.
I used the coordinating dies as well. For these cards, I used the holly, gingerbread man, and ornament images.

For the sentiments on this set of cards, I used the Hero Arts Holiday Sayings stamp set. I found this 50% at Michaels - LOVE IT!

Here is one of the cards from this set:

For everyone that received a card, I hope you enjoy it! I really enjoyed making the cards, although it can be very time consuming.

Thanks again for stopping by and checking out my blog.

Wishing you and your loved ones a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Happy Holidays Everyone!

Remember the reason for the season - our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you Lord for all the wonderful blessings this last year!

For now remember to keep on crafting! See you next week here at P&P Creations :)

December Daily Days #9 to 16

Hi Everyone! Yay! Christmas is almost here and it is the time of year that we are surrounded by good cheer - sorry for the rhyme :)

Another busy weekend for the Anstee family. I worked on Saturday morning and then came home to work in my craft room for the rest of the day.
I had to finish a few Christmas cards since they need to be mailed out pretty soon. I also needed to catch up a little on my December daily.
It feels great using my paper collections instead of just buying to hoard.

The promise I made my husband to stop buying crafting supplies has not been working out well. I think I have broken it about 3-4 times :(
Now my favorite online store Two Peas in a Bucket is having a storewide sale - Ugh! What to do?What to do?

So this week I have another December Daily update to share with you all. I am sharing days #9 thru 16 (today).
I have been good about taking an Instax picture daily to document the day. I did screw up my days this past week when it came to documentation but will share that further down this post.

Here is Day #9 and #10: (BTW - I took my pictures using my new 50mm Canon lens)

For this page I used the new October Afternoon Make It Merry paper collection. The embellishments are October Afternoon, Studio Calico and American Crafts.

Day #9 was last Sunday and I spent most of the day cleaning the house and wrapping Christmas presents.
The wrapping paper I am using this year is gorgeous - found it 50% off at Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago and matches my Christmas theme this year.
I have the Christmas presents displayed on our living room table.

Day #10 was Monday so back to work as usual. The best part of the day was having dinner with Greg and Amie at Peli-Peli. I had the Heugenot steak which is DELICIOUS!! It has a combination of blue cheese and rasberry like sauce on top of the steak.

Well this is where I mixed up my days and thought that this was the day that I received my Ali Edwards stamps - Ugh!!
So the Instax picture I used on this page was that of my stamps.
I had taken a picture with Amie in front of the Christmas tree at the Vintage which I was going to use for Day #10.
Instead I use it for Day #12 and try to explain on my journaling card.

December Daily Day #11 and #12:

For this page I used Studio Calico's new Wonderland paper collection. All the embellishments are from Studio Calico except for the brads which are from American Crafts.
I actually found American Crafts embellishments and papers from American Crafts at my local Target - awesome!

Day #11 was the night of our CPA provider dinner at Ameria's in the Woodlands - Yummy! So I had 2 great dinners back to back :)
Had a great time with my colleagues outside of work.

Day #12 was highlighted by the arrival of my Monthly Ali Edwards stamp set. It included the November stamp as I never received - I think it had to be due to Hurricane Sandy but not sure. Technique Tuesday had great customer service and made sure I received my November stamp set.

So here is the picture that really belongs to Day #10 - The Vintage had a great big beautiful tree so had to take a picture.

December Daily Day #13 and #14:

For this page I used the Simple Stories Handmade Holiday paper collection. I used this same collection for my cover page. This is also a new holiday collection for 2012.

Day #13 was highlighted by the announcement that my sister is having a GIRL! Yes, she is preggers. Of course while shopping had to stop by the baby department :)
I found this really cute onesie that says "I love Auntie" so of course had to buy it. Only had it in newborn size so literally she will need to wear it after birth just enough time to take a picture.
She will probably outgrow it the next day :)

Day #14 was like any other Friday and busy in clinic. The big surprise of the day was really for my husband that evening. Turns out that Max destroyed his new crate pad and somehow got out of the crate - that crazy dog!
Luckily he held his urine and there was no other destruction found.

For my last page of this week, I used Basic Grey's Aspen Frost paper collection. This is also a new 2012 holiday collection. I really love this collection, especially the colors.

Day #15 was a busy day but excited to get my Scentsy products. One of our MA's sister sells this great stuff. I have been wanting to try it out. The scents I bought are so wonderful! I could not wait to get home to use them.

Day #16 started out great - my husband cooked me some breakfast. He made 2 eggs over easy as well as some Polish sausage - Yummy!
He had to eat a good meal as he went to donate platelets at our local blood bank later that morning.

As usual, Isabella has to be on the table next to his food. Our cat (Isabella) has the habit of now staying on our dining tables. If she stays on the ground all she gets is chased around by our doggies. Poor girlie. Sometimes I catch her on top of the fridge or upper cabinets.

I also want to share other pics that I took using my Canon 50mm/f1.8 lens which is my new love!!

This picture of the presents shows a perfect example of "bokeh".

Thanks for stopping by P&P Creations and I hope you enjoyed this week's post. Next week I will have not only my next December Daily update but also pictures of my Christmas Cards that I have made this year.

After the Holidays, I will be back with more projects galore here at P&P. For now will be busy with baking my Mexican cookies this week.

I hope you all have a great week and hope that you all are able to get your craft on this week!

December Daily 2012 - Days# 1-8

Hi Everyone! - sorry for the late post but was very busy all day today. My husband was out of town so had to take care of the dogs this morning and all day today. Did my usual sweeping, dusting, and using febreeze on couches and bed to take that doggie smell away :)
Also can't forget laundry!

I also wrapped all our Christmas presents that we have so far. I think we are pretty much done except for a few here and there.

Afterwards finally focused on working on my December daily up in my craft room. I had the foundation down for the last 4 days but needed to add my journaling as well as my pictures.
I have been taking an Instax photo every day that captures something I did that day.

Here is a current picture of my craft desk - it is MESSY!

I have laid out all my Christmas themed paper collections, papers, stickers, chipboard, and embellishments. This way I have everything there to be able to look at.

I ended up buying several Christmas collections this year although I had told myself I wouldn't. :)
It's great though because I am using a lot of it instead of just hoarding it.

I showed you all my December Daily (DD) cover page in last week's post so now onto Day #1-8.

DD Days #1 and #2:

I used Echo Park's Winter Park which is paper collection from last year but bought most of it on sale earlier this year. I really like the shades of blue combined with red.
Day #1 is on the left and Day #2 is on the right.

I actually took 2 pics that day. The first one of my family - my husband and my 3 dogs in front of our Christmas tree.

The 2nd picture is of our decorated Christmas tree that I worked on last Saturday after work. Aren't the penguin stickers cute!

Day #2 was last Sunday and I spent most of the day doing work including office notes so I took a picture of my computer. I watched Netflix while doing notes so my Apple TV remote is included in the picture as well as my Christmas gift list. I was also shopping online all day :)

Here is DD Day #3 and #4:

For this page, I used October Afternoon's Holiday Style paper collection. This is also a collection from last year which I bought during the summer. I just LOVE October Afternoon so I could not resist :)

My picture for that day was one of my husband holding my little red LV wallet that I have had FOREVER. Apparently I had left it at home all day since I had taken it out of my purse the previous day to do online shopping! He gave me a hard time about it. I actually did not realize until that evening when we were at the grocery store and NO WALLET!
At least he had his wallet so no problem but I had been driving all day without my license in my purse!
Sorry my hand is mostly covering the wallet.

Day #4 was a typical day for me. That evening after dinner, my husband poured me a small glass of milk and gave me a few Holiday oreo cookies - Yummy! So I had to take a picture.

DD Day #5 and Day #6:

For this page, I used Cosmo Cricket's Jolly Days paper collection. This is a new collection for 2012 from them. I bought it on super sale from Blitsy.

Day #5 was highlighted by the big surprise/bonus in my paycheck! I even took a picture of my paycheck :)

Day #6 was the day I received my first Secret Santa gift in the office. The picture did not turn out good at all but its supposed to be a small basket with warm fuzzy socks and chocolate. Thanks Secret Santa!

Here is DD Day #7 and Day #8:

I used Crate Paper's new Holiday paper collection called Sleigh Ride - this collection is GORGEOUS! I saw it on someone's video blog on You Tube from a recent haul and just knew that I had to buy it. Great colors and designs. One of the papers is just a map of the North Pole. I am wanting to use that for my final page of my December Daily which is Dec 25th - I will be doing a 12 x 12 layout for that day.

I bough almost everything with this collection including the chipboard accents, vellum tags, border stickers, regular stickers - almost everything!

Day #7 was the night of the Cypress Physician's Christmas Party. I can not find my picture from that night so left it blank for now.

On December 8th I spent the afternoon with my friend Amie scrapbooking/cardmaking at her house.
She has just bought the new Fiskar Fuse system which is pretty cool! I took my Studio Calico November kit to work with as had not used it yet and I already received December's kit this last week - Yikes!

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you have all enjoyed my little adventure here with doing a December daily for the first time. It has been a little tough but doing well on keeping up with it.

Will have another update next weekend.

I hope you all have a great week! For now KEEP CRAFTING!
