Happy Birthday and Celebrate Fall Cards, 12 x 12 Layout Peaches

Hi Everyone! Hope your weekend has been going great! The start of my weekend was not so good for me :(
I hit my car parking it against a metal pole which still blows my mind! I woke up with a sore throat on Friday and now have a mild cold. And I am on call this weekend! Overall though, just happy that my car can be fixed and that no one was hurt except my poor car and my ego :)

I also did get some good crafting time this weekend which always cheers me up! Once I get started, I can go hours putting some projects together.

I started on Friday evening using my Cricut to cut some labels for Halloween treats that I am putting together for our clinic staff.
Yesterday, I was able to put a card together and few 12 x 12 layouts. I had also forgotten that I had made a card for my sister in law whose birthday is on October 5th earlier in the week.

I have been wanting to make a Fall card with some of the new collections I have received as well.

I have also been finishing our Washington DC trip scrapbook pages using my Studio Calico September kit "Central High". I am trying to use it as much as I can because the October "Roller Rink" kit ships out October 10th.

I should be able to pick up the pictures I took on our recent cruise which I need to use for my Project Life scrapbook. I will show you all those pages once they are done.
I feel like I have been ignoring Project Life a little but have been enjoying doing some traditional scrapbooking lately. This is why I can not do Project Life week to week like some fellow crafters.

Here is the Birthday Card I made for my sister in law:

I made the card base out of Papertrey Ink Smokey Shadow cardstock in standard A2 size (4 1/4 x 5 1/2).

I decided to use Amy Tangerine's Sketchbook papers as they have more of neon vibe which is popular right now in the scrapbooking world. My sister in law is much younger than me so I thought she would like the colors.

For the sentiment, I used Papertry Ink's Fillable Frames and matching clear stamp set. The flower embellishment also comes Amy Tangerine's Sketchbook collection.

Here is card I made with a fall theme:

I made this card using Kimber McCray's card sketch for this week for her challenge at Two Peas in a Bucket. I really do enjoy her card sketches as inspiration and gives me a chance to keep entering the weekly challenge.

This is Kimber's card sketch which I used as inspiration:

I put a Fall twist to it by using Basic Grey's "Clippings" collection and a My Mind's Eye 6 x 6 paper pad. Both patterned paper collections had great fall colors.

Instead of using small hearts to embellish the card, I stamped out small leaves from the new Ali Edwards September stamp set called "Celebrate Fall". I then cut out the small leaves and used them around both my sentiments.

I also want to make a Halloween card which if I get a chance will make later today and show it you all in next week's post.

For the 12 x 12 layout that I am showing you all, I also used another challenge at Two Peas. The challenge was to scraplift any layout that you really like and use it for inspiration.
The layout that was picked by Wilna as part of her own challenge was great so I decided to just go ahead and use it as well.

I have a picture I took of our dog Peaches after I caught her eating plastic from a new doggie toy. Her face is priceless! I really wanted to make a scrapbook page with this picture.

Here is the layout inspiration that Wilna picked to scrap lift:

This was made by Jenna Warner, a Two Peas member. I really do love this idea and thought it would work great with my picture of Peaches. I also have number brads from Basic Grey that came with my September Studio Calico kit which worked out perfect for this layout.

Here is my layout:

I do apologize for the darkness of my picture :(
Still trying to figure out my camera and since it is raining here in Houston, too much darkness in my craft room.
I took the picture without a flash to avoid getting that shine in the picture.

After I made this layout, I asked my husband to help me fill out the 5 things we love about our Peaches. She is the sweetest big girlie ever! She is red nose pitbull mix and we rescued her when she was about 6-8 weeks old. She basically went from a 5 lb pound pup to now a 60 lb dog! She is very spoiled (my fault) and is the only one of our dogs that sleeps with us on our bed.

All the patterned papers, cardstock and embellishments are from the Studio Calico September "Central High" kit.

Well I hope you enjoyed my projects for this week and thanks for stopping by!

Will be back next weekend a few new projects. I have a Halloween picture of Peaches and Patrick last year dressed as pirates which I need to use in a layout. I am excited to use the new October Afternoon Witch Hazel collection for that. Stay tuned next weekend!

Have a great week everyone!

12 x 12 Scrapbook Layouts - Washington D.C.

Hi Everyone! I hope you are all having a great weekend so far. Feeling under the weather today :( so posting this entry a little later than I usually do on Sundays.

I want to share 3 layouts that I worked on yesterday using my Studio Calico September kit. Actually 2 of them are using the September "Central High" kit and the other one is using the August "Summer of '69" kit.

My husband and I took a trip out to Philadelphia and Washington D.C. last year during his spring break and yes, I am still trying to finish that scrapbook :)

For those of you who know me well, I actually lived in Philadelphia for 4 years while in medical school. I attended Temple University School of Medicine, which I LOVED! Great school and had great friends those 4 years. I was introduced to and fell in love with Cuban and Indian cuisine during that time :)  Thank you Yanelis and Minisha for this!

I went back to show my husband my Philly as well as take him to Washington D.C. as he had never been there. He is a HUGE history buff and one of his big heroes is Abraham Lincoln.
He really enjoyed the trip to D.C. which made me happy!

It feels so great to scrapbook again! I do love making cards so kind of broke away from scrapbooking for a while. Don't worry, I will still be making cards too :)

Well onto my layouts......Here is the first one.

I enjoyed using the patterned papers from the kit and I also used a couple of patterned papers from one of the add-on kits.

We did a Trolley night tour on our first night in D.C., which was fun. So I had 2 good pictures of the Lincoln Memorial at nighttime and then of course we visited again the following day.

I was a little disappointed though as the reflecting pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial was under renovation so my husband did not get to see that. I used to like watching the ducks around the pool.
He read somewhere that it is now completed, so will need to make another trip out there sometime.

Here is layout #2:

I found some stickers from Jolee's which included a soldier's uniform and rifle that I had bought last year at Michael's specifically for this page. I didn't see the stickers until after I finished the page but I think I made them fit well.

I took several pictures of the war memorials and it was hard deciding on which ones to put on my scrapbook layout.
I decided to mostly use the pictures depicting the Vietnam Memorial including the Memorial Wall. I also included the US Marine Corp Memorial from World War II (Iwo Jima) as it is a very famous Memorial showing Marines raising the US flag. This Memorial is actually located close to the Arlington National Cemetery across the Potomac River.

Here is layout #3:

I had actually already made a layout with these pictures using patterned paper from Tim Holtz but just never really liked how it turned out. I really like his distress inks but not a big fan of his patterned paper - maybe its just me?
Anyway, I used the August Studio Calico kit for this one. I was getting a little tired of the September kit papers :)
A fellow crafter I follow on You Tube mentioned in one of her videos that she gets bored of the monthly kits after using it for 3 or 4 projects. Now I know what she means :)

I did reuse the pictures and my journaling card that I had already done.

I had to highlight the Supreme Court as my husband was very excited to go inside. He is a lawyer now and a big fan of constitutional law although he works in health care law.

I hope you all enjoyed my projects this week as I had a really great time doing some crafting yesterday. I just love sitting in my craft room and coming up with ideas.

I also LOVE shopping for supplies and I do most of my shopping online now. I just find that Michael's and Hobby Lobby do not carry most of the paper companies/lines that I like. There is an Archiver's in Houston but kind of a drive for me. So much easier to buy online and then get a nice big brown box delivered to your front door :)

Speaking of shopping.... I just received 4 new packages in the mail! Two of them were from Two Peas in a Bucket, one from Urbanpapercraft.com and the last one was from Scrapbook.com. I had ordered the new Cropper Hopper plastic envelopes from Scrapbook.com to hold my Studio Calico kits.
I had made a large purchase from Two Peas only to find that they had received the new October Afternoon "Witch Hazel" collection the following day! Of course, I had to make another purchase :)
My Urbanpapercraft purchase was also large as she had just received the new Studio Calico lines including Yearbook and Classic Calico Vol. 3.  Jen, who owns the online store has great inventory and great prices!
I am also waiting on 2 more packages to come soon :)

My husband has a hard time understanding why I spend so much money on my hobby. I promised him that I was going to stop for a while for now except for my monthly Studio Calico kit subscription and my monthly Ali Edwards clear stamp subscription. I hope I can keep my word :)

I wanted to take pictures of my scrapbook haul like I have done in the past but get too excited and forget to take pics. I realize this after I have put everything away!

I plan to do a little more crafting this evening as well as plan our CPA ladies craft day as requested by Dr. Ramos-Patel.
It is great working with fellow physicians that like to craft!

I am also attending a digital photography class at our local community college which I started last week. I am very excited and hope to become a better photographer. I really want to be able to use my Canon camera well and have great pics to scrapbook! Will keep you updated and maybe post some of my artistic pics.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you all have a great week!

Congrats! Card and Project Life Layout

Hi Everyone! Just getting back into the swing of things. We returned from our Carnival cruise to Cozumel last Monday and finished a short week of work.

The cruise was GREAT! I had never been on a cruise before so our little 4 day cruise from Galveston to Cozumel was perfect. The cruise was to celebrate Cypress Physicians Association 10 year anniversary. Dr. Hu (my boss) has been talking about it since I joined 3 years ago. Most of our office staff (doctors, phone room staff, and medical assistants) went and it was great hanging out with them outside of work. We even had a team building exercise on the last day.
My husband finally had the chance to see a nice looking beach with turquoise waters instead of the usual murky Gulf waters in Galveston.
We had a great time in Cozumel and joined an excursion to some Mayan ruins and Tequila tasting. I can't wait until our next vacation!

Anyway, I was not able to blog last weekend as I was out at sea. I have 2 projects that I have worked on this weekend.

The first one is a layout I completed using my Studio Calico kit from July called Elmwood Park. I am showcasing 2 pictures of my sister and I enjoying pizza :)
During my last trip home to the RGV, we spent the afternoon with my grandmother on her Birthday. She loves Pizza Hut pizza so we ended up taking her a Supreme pizza as requested.
Polly and I were being silly with my new camera and ended up taking this pics. They turned out great so had to showcase them! My mom thinks that Pizza Hut should pay me for the pics since it looks like we are really enjoying the pizza :)

Here is my layout:

I think our faces say it all! I wanted to use several patterned papers in this layout to really showcase all the patterns in the July kit. I took inspiration from a layout highlighted on Studio Calico's website with using the triangle shapes.
Here is the link...http://studiocalico.typepad.com/.a/6a0133f3181fde970b017744b54825970d-pi.
I only wished I had a sewing machine to sew along the triangles like the inspiration layout. It is on my wish list for Christmas!
Journaling is actually on the kraft tag that is nicely tucked into the small pocket bag that came with the kit.

Now onto my card for the week. I wanted to continue to use the same papers as I used in my layout only because I really want to get the most use out of my Studio Calico kit. Plus I had lots of scraps left over.
I decided to make a Congratulations card for my medical assistant who will be graduating from University of Phoenix later this month.
The Studio Calico kit came with some patterned papers from the October Afternoon's 9 to 5 collection which works well with the theme of my card.

Here is my card:

My card base is a standard A2 size (4 1/4 x 5 1/2) and made with Papertrey Ink Kraft cardstock. I again wanted to use several patterned papers on the card which are from the kit.

I used Kimber McCray's card sketch for inspiration from last week's Two Peas card sketch challenge. The sketch is last week's so will not be able to actually enter it into the challenge as it is now expired.

Here is her sketch:

I just received my Studio Calico kit with 2 add-ons this week so will be using that for a project.

Here is a picture of this month's kit "Central High":

I also bought 2 add-ons (Style Guide and Capital Avenue):

I could not resist purchasing the add-ons as they contained several new pieces from Amy Tangerine's new collection called "Ready Set Go". Although I do plan on getting the whole collection - just waiting for it to be in stock at one of my favorite online stores :)

Thanks for stopping by again and will have a new project for next week.

Have a great week everyone!

Thank You Card - Watermelon

Hi everyone! Ana here with P&P Creations with my project for the week. I am so glad for this 3 day weekend.
My mom is here with me for a few days, just hanging out. It is great to have her and have been showing her some of my crafting projects :)

I am also getting ready for our upcoming Cypress Physicians cruise! Yay! So excited to have some actual days of vacation enjoying the ocean.
We are taking a 4 day cruise out of Galveston to Cozumel. My husband has never been to Cozumel, so excited for him to see a nice beach for a change :)

Anyway, for this week's project, my father has requested a card for a friend of his. He really enjoyed the watermelon card that I made for a summer project and requested a similar card.

Again, I am using a card sketch by Kimber McCray with Two Peas in a Bucket for this week's Saturday challenge.

Here is her sketch:

Here is the card that I came up with:

Well, I actually made this card before talking to my dad and he wants the card to say "Enjoy your vacation".
So I think I am going to make another card :)

I do plan to enter this card into the Saturday challenge for the chance to win $5 gift certificate to Two Peas in a Bucket!

Thank you for stopping by again and I hope you enjoyed my card! Will be back in 2 weeks with pictures from our cruise and a new project.

I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!
