Thank You Card

Hi everyone! I hope your weekend has been going great! My husband and I did a little shopping yesterday which was really exciting. My favorite part was spending some time with him since we have not been able to do that for the last 3 years it seems. He now has no excuses to go shopping with me :)

Two weekends ago, I decided to rearrange my craft room as I felt like I did not have that much space to actually craft.
My craft room is one of our unused upstairs bedroom (we have a 5 bedroom home) which actually used to be my husband's office space until I kicked him downstairs to our formal office area.
I painted the walls myself and picked out my furniture. I have two craft desks but even though I have 2 desks, it still felt like little space.
I used one entire desk for my die-cutting machines including my Cricut Expression 2, Sizzix Big Shot, and my Cuttlebug. I only really used that desk for die-cutting and felt like I had limited space even for that.
I took the advice of a friend and placed both desks back to back in the middle of my room and bought some storage pieces from Ikea.
I also needed to make space since I am wanting a sewing machine for Christmas :)
We went to the Container Store and found great storage bins for my crafting supplies. Terry even found some storage containers for himself and his CD/DVD collection.
Anyway, we had a good time out yesterday and even had lunch together at Pappasito's which he really likes.

Anyway, onto my project for this week which was a Thank You card my mom requested about 2 weeks ago.
She is wanting to give a donation to a local church back home - their pastor came out and held a prayer vigil after my sister was diagnosed with Melanoma last month.
It was a small prayer vigil but it really touched our hearts. Out of appreciation, she is wanting to send them a little thank you present.

I felt like I lost a little of my card making "mojo" so had to turn to a sketch to help me plan my card for this project.

I then found Kimber's Saturday card sketch challenge at Two Peas in a Bucket for this past week and really liked the sketch.
I also went ahead and decided to upload my card for the challenge.
Found out yesterday that I did not win but had some great comments on my card. Oh well, you can't win them all :)

Here is Kimber McGray's card sketch challenge:

Here is the card I made:

After I had adhered everything, I realized that the plain kraft cardstock tag was too plain but it was too late to take apart.
I think if I had at least embossed a design, then it might not look so plain.
I still really like the card and I hope my mom does too.

I was also able to put together another layout using papers and embellishments from my August Studio Calico kit.
I made a photo collage from pictures that I had taken on my trip home in July. The pictures are all centered around food and people hanging around my mom's kitchen island. Her kitchen island is not that big but for some reason, we all always hang out there.

Here is my layout:

This particular trip was filled with Mexican food, candy, and sweet bread. Note the picture of the tamales and then one of course of my favorite sweet bread called "ojo". This means "eye" in spanish as the bread kind of looks like an eye :) Yummy!
My aunt from Mexico also brought us some new tamarindo and chile candies called "Swinkles". They resemble sour strings without the sour.
Of course the important people in my life are captured in my photo collage - my mom, dad, sister, and aunt.

I hope you enjoyed this week's projects and hope to post again next weekend so please stop by again!

Have a great week everyone!

Sympathy Card and Max

Hi everyone! Hope your week has been great and thank you for stopping by again!

Big news for our family is that we now have a new member of the Anstee family. He is the cutest thing and his name is Max.

My husband fell in love with this sweet boy one day while picking up our other doggies at their doggie daycare (Willowcreek Ranch)

For those of you that know our story on how we started with our first dog, well you know how long it took me to convince my husband to let me get a dog! Now 3 dogs later, I think we are complete :)

We don't have children and we love the idea of giving these rescue dogs a nice home.

Max was found without a collar close to the outskirts of Harris county and picked up by one the Willowcreek ladies.
I think it was love at first site between Terry and Max :)

He is about 5-6 months old now and still has his puppy teeth. In fact, he lost one tooth in our TV room on his first day. He has had a few accidents inside our home but is getting into a routine of letting us know when he has to go outside.

It took a while for Patrick and Peaches to get used to Max but things are going better now. Peaches and Max play really well together but she can rough on this little guy.  He is one tough cookie though and does not let himself get bossed around by our Peaches :)

Here is a picture of him all tuckered out after playing.

Well onto this week's project which is a sympathy card I made for the family of a dear, elderly patient of mine.

She passed away earlier this week and to show my sympathy, I made this card to send her family. I take care of the whole family, so it was hard to hear of her passing this week.

I decided to use Studio Calico's "Heyday" collection as I thought the pastel tones would work well on a sympathy card.

I also used one of my Hero Arts background stamps that I bought recently at Joann's. I have been wanting to use a background stamp to do some clear embossing on cardstock.

Here is my card for this week:

I used the scalloped border and flower cardstock stickers from the Authentique "Delightful" collection. The colors matched well with the Studio calico patterned papers.

I then used some foam squares to give the sentiment and the flowers that "pop out" effect.

Card base was made using Papertrey Ink's sweet blush cardstock and measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 (standard A2 size).

Sentiment is from My Pink Stamper "Fabulous Phrases" clear stamp collection.

She liked to feed the birds outside her apartment so I added a small wood veneer bird from my Studio Calico August kit that I recently received.
This is my small tribute to her.

Thank you for stopping by and checking out my weekly project.
I will be back next week with another P&P Creation. I realize that I will need to consider a name change for my blog but will need some time to think about it :)

Maybe PMP Creations?

I hope you all have a great week!

12 x 12 Scrapbook Layout - South Texas Indie

Hi everyone!

Ana with P&P Creations here with my project for the week. After finishing my layout earlier this week for the Two Peas in a Bucket sketch challenge, I knew I would want to do another layout for this week.
By the way, I did not win the challenge but at least I am now doing some more scrapbook layouts :)

On my recent trip home to McAllen, my family and I decided to eat at a new local Indian restaurant. It was SOOOO GOOD! I love Indian food and will jump at the chance to eat it anytime I can.
The restaurant is actually owned by a Mexican family but the chef is Indian so the food was pretty authentic in my opinion.

My aunt had never tried Indian food and she loved it. My father eats like a bird and he ended up eating about 2 plates of food! He even had fruit with mango sauce for dessert :)

I like to watch YouTube videos especially paper crafting and haul videos and I am currently subscribed to a few YouTube channels - one of them belong to KraftinKate. On one of her videos she had mentioned using Snapfish for her photos especially since you can make and order collages.
I went ahead and made a few collages on Snapfish which turned out great and could not wait to use one of them for a layout.
One of collages is made with pictures from our Indian restaurant adventure in McAllen.

For inspiration I turned to Studio Calico and their scrapbook kit for July "Elmwood Park". I actually was able to get this kit as there were a few left over at the end of the month so it was shipped along with the August kit.
I just thought that the papers went well with the theme I was going for.

Here is a picture of the Studio Calico July kit:

Here is my 12 x 12 scrapbook layout "South Texas Indie":

I also used a few other embellishments that were not part of the kit but worked well with the overall theme.

I made the picture of my father with the Indian turbine hat the main focus of the collage. For those of you who know my father, the fact that he is wearing the hat is HILARIOUS!
He is a serious guy but he had a good laugh too!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you all have a great week!

12 x 12 Layout - My Sister Polly

Hi everyone!

Hope your week has been good so far. Mine is going well and busy as always! I did start on a 12 x 12 layout which I was inspired to do after checking the Saturday challenges at Two Peas in a Bucket this past weekend.

I have not done a 12 x 12 layout in a LONG time but after seeing Wilna's sketch challenge, I knew it was time to do one. The challenge is to use speech bubbles as embellishments on your layout.

My other inspirations were the new Echo Park collection "Everyday Eclectic" which I fell in love with the moment they previewed it.
Love the colors and the themes including woodgrain, chevron print, and cameras.

Of course my best inspiration was my sister Polly who I am very proud of and knew that the paper collection would work great on a layout about her.

Here is the layout sketch challenge:

Here is my layout:

If I win then I get another badge for my Two Peas profile and $5 gift certificate to use at the Two Peas store - with all the new paper lines coming out, it would really be nice to win!

My surprise for today was coming home after work and finding my Studio Calico Scrapbook Kit for the month of August at my doorstep! I just subscribed last month and was even able to get the July kit as well.
LOVE Studio Calico and kept admiring the kits, so I finally decided to go ahead and join :)
It came packaged so pretty in brown paper bags. There is even a little card with name of the person that put your kit together.

Here are the pictures of my kit today:

Here is a better picture of the August kit from Studio Calico website:

Love the doilies that come with the kit. I have been wanting to get some to use on cards and layouts but never actually bought any.

This month's kit also includes some papers from the new October Afternoon (OA)"Wonderland Park" collection which I have been desperately wanting to get!

My other surprise today was that the OA collection is now in stock at Two Peas, so yes, I made another purchase :)

My husband was not amused.

Well this is why I work full-time :)

Thank you all for stopping by mid-week and will have a new project this weekend as always.

Hope the rest of your week is great!

Hello card

Hi everyone! I hope your weekend has been great so far. The Anstee's are having a LAZY weekend and we love it!

Ana here with P&P Creations and for this week's project, I made a card for my good friend Amy.

Amy and I have been friends since high school and let me tell ya, she's a KEEPER! She is just an all-around great lady! I am very lucky to have her as my friend.

She actually lives about 5 miles from me but I don't get to see her that often or at least as often as I would like.

I made this card for her just to say "Hello" and how much I appreciate her friendship.

Here is my card:

I have been wanting to use the Everyday Button Bits stamp set from Papertrey Ink since I bought it 3 months ago :)

It is a great way to use buttons on my cards. The patterned paper is from Echo Park's "For the Record" collection which is an oldie but goodie.
In fact, Echo Park is coming out with new "For the Record 2" this fall and can't wait to get my hands on those collections!

My card base measures 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 (standard A2 size) and made using Kraft cardstock from Papertrey Ink.

I used cardstock stickers that came with the paper collection as the base of the tree and then added the buttons. I used my glue dots to stick the buttons on the stickers.
Added some foam squares to give it that "pop up" effect.

Amy, I hope you enjoy your card and will be mailing it off soon. Love you girlie!

I am working on a layout for my Project Life album currently. I am following a layout sketch as part of another Saturday weekly challenge at Two Peas in a Bucket.
Once I am done, I will post it here so please stay tuned later this week to check it out!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my card.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!
