Extra Post - Two Peas Card Sketch Challenge #1

Hi everyone! I had actually completed this week's project last week which was my husband's birthday card.
This morning while surfing my favorite online store, Two Peas in a Bucket, I came across their blog! I never knew they had a separate blog - LOVE it!

Anyway, every week they have a scrapbook layout, photo, and card sketch challenge. I decided to try out participating. This week (6/30 - 7/06/12) the challenge is to use hexagons which are really popular right now.
You are given a card sketch for inspiration - in this case one with hexagons. The card sketch was great and included 3 hexagon shapes as part of the card but you can actually use other repetitive shapes such as hearts, circles, buttons, flowers, etc.

Here is the sketch - this challenge sketch is by Kimber McGray who is a Garden Girl over at Two Peas:

Now here is my card creation using her sketch:

This was a card was pretty simple and easy to do. The only trouble I had was that I did not have any hexagon shaped dies to cut out the shape. I even looked through all my Cricut cartridges and NOTHING!
I cut out my own hexagon shapes using a template I found online.
I finally used some of the twine I bought at Papertrey Ink on a card. The hexagon patterned papers made me think of a quilt so the overall theme of the card was "country homemade".
I really do love the colors in the patterned paper. The wood grain patterned paper helped break up the bold colors and really made the hexagon shapes stand out.

Well I uploaded my card and will see next weekend if I won. I hope to continue to make a card weekly both for the Two Peas challenge and for my blog.

I hope you enjoyed my card! Now off to work on finishing my clinic notes :)

Have a great week everyone!

Ana
